Building an EarthCraft home is about constructing a healthier, more valuable home while minimizing its impact on the environment. EarthCraft House follows a systems approach to home building that stresses an understanding of how the different components of a home work together. This approach results in a home that performs better, is more economical for the homeowner and costs little more to build than a comparable home using standard construction practices.
Every home and townhome at Tributary is an EarthCraft House that must meet the program's strict requirements in all 12 categories of the certification, including:
- Site Planning
- Energy-Efficient Building Envelope and Systems
- Resource Efficient Design
- Resource Efficient Building Materials
- Waste Management
- Indoor Air Quality
- Water Conservation (Indoor and Outdoor)
EarthCraft homes are inspected and certified throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to the program.

Earthcraft House Standards
Building to EarthCraft House standards can reduce a home's energy consumption by up to 30%, which can result in a reduction of over 1,100 pounds of greenhouse gases introduced into the atmosphere each year. In addition, EarthCraft homes can conserve water and reduce storm water pollution. Finally, by promoting recycling and the use of durable, low maintenance, recycled, and rapidly renewable materials, an EarthCraft home helps to conserve natural resources. |
